Twenty years ago, if someone had told me that I would one day be working in the mental health field, I likely would have dismissed the idea with a laugh, not fully understanding what that meant. My journey as a therapist has been far from direct, but the transformation of being one who rejected the importance of introspection to one who now sees the complex and beautiful make-up of the whole person has been liberating. My diverse background spans business, entrepreneurship, lay ministry leadership, and family life, resulting in many joys, challenges, unexpected turns, and valuable lessons. Yet through it all, I’ve discovered the importance of integrating every part of who I am into a life of purpose, balance, fulfillment, and transformation.
In my early adult years I was confronted with the reality of my life being far less linear and fulfilling than I had hoped. I had little understanding of my life experiences, their impact on my current circumstances and the ways they projected toward my future. This led to a period of introspection, discovery, and reckoning with my own story, sparking a growing interest in viewing our lives through a comprehensive and integrative perspective. The curiosity led me to pursue becoming a counselor, where I now have the privilege of walking alongside individuals, couples, and business professionals as they navigate life’s complexities. In my private practice in Texas, I strive to provide a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported as they work toward their own growth and healing.
But counseling is just one part of my story. I’m also an entrepreneur, running a business while balancing the joys and demands of family life. As a husband and father of three, I understand the pressures of managing work, relationships, and personal well-being. I know what it’s like to juggle responsibilities while trying to stay present for the people who matter most. My experiences as a business owner and family man fuel my passion for helping others find balance, resilience, and purpose in their own lives.
Faith is also at the core of who I am. It shapes how I see the world and the way I view and serve others. I believe that every person has inherent value and worth, striving to respect and honor all individuals as image-bearers of God. While my faith influences my perspective, I seek to create a therapeutic environment safe for people from all backgrounds and faith, because I believe that conversations about mental and emotional well-being should be open to everyone.
Running has also played a significant role in my journey personally and provides a metaphor for the hard work of personal growth. The discipline, endurance, and striving for a goal that come from pushing my body have taught me valuable lessons about my strengths, limitations and the relationship my mind has to my body. I believe that mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health are all deeply connected, and I’m passionate about helping others integrate these areas to live fuller, healthier lives.
This blog is an extension of my work and my story. Here, I’ll share insights on mental health, relationships, personal development, and the intersections of faith and wellness. My hope is that the experiences and reflections I share will provide insight, encouragement and practical tools for your own journey.
I’m glad you’re here. Let’s walk this path together—learning, growing, and finding purpose along the way. I'd love to hear your own stories of self-discovery in the comments!
